Now I’ve been re-installing Mac OS maybe once every 6 months and making sure all my plugins are up-to-date, minimal drivers/overheads installed and yet I still seem to end up back at this.Avid Pro Tools is the industry standard. I keep getting the 6101 error which I haven’t seen before. Projects which were playing okay a few weeks ago (albeit with major bugs) will now no longer play unless I freeze/commit most of the tracks. 2020.5 seems to have taken a major hit in terms of my maximum CPU. Even with a buffer of 128 I have this issue. The entire machine locks up, graphics go glitchy, hardware devices disconnect, drives dismount etc.
I just can’t track on less than 128spls buffer size if I have any kind of plugin open. Even my S3 slows down to almost a complete halt. This is to the point where it’s becoming almost impossible to do anything while ProTools is playing. Graphics get *incredibly* laggy and choppy very quickly while working (even though some Plugins keep running fine). Have followed all the standard Avid recommendations with little difference in performance. I’m on Mojave, 6-core trashcan, 64gb of RAM and an RME Madiface. Lurching from one update to the next in an attempt to fix issues I’ve been encountering only to find new ones popping up.
ProTools for me has been something somewhat of a slow car crash over the last 12 months or so.
